Here are a few tips for maintaining your new fence!
Let it set before you seal it. One your fence has been installed, it’s important to let the wood dry out. Typically, there is residual moisture from the manufacturer, if you try to stain the new fence before it is dry, your stain won’t be absorbed properly.
Make sure your gates are hung on solid hinges. Most companies or do it yourself fence installations will have hinges that are not built to withstand the weight of the gate. It’s important to make sure your posts are set deeper, with more concrete, and that your hinges are heavy duty enough. When using pressure treated wood for your new fence it’s a little heavier, also when it rains, the wood absorbs the water making the gate even heavier. In short, making sure your hinges can handle the weight is one of the many things we do to make sure your new fence stands the test of time.
Don’t overspan your sections. At Martinez Construction, we take the time to make sure to set your posts for your new fence at the proper spacing. If the posts are set too far apart, this could leave your new fence vulnerable to wind damage as sections won’t be as sturdy as they should be. When installing your fence, the posts should be no more than 6 to 8 feet apart.
A fence that’s built to last. Whether your fence is built to keep things in, keep them out, for privacy, or more for decoration to accent your home, you’ll know your fence is built to last when you hire Martinez Construction. We stand behind every fence installation we do with a best in industry warranty. Your new fence will last you and your family a long time.
